This melody is derived from the bells of Westminster Abbey, England. During the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan, in order to distinguish it from the air raid alarm, the bell of Westminster Abbey was adopted for use as the school bell. It has been used since then and has become a part of the shared memory of all Taiwanese students.
